In a digital inaugural event on 6 August 2021 the Historical Society of Liberia (HSL) was launched by a group of mostly Liberian academics and historians in Liberia and the Diaspora, together with former Liberian government officials, US government officials. Its mission is to enhance the provision of research resources, promote Liberian history in educational institutions of all levels and to widen the public accessibility of Liberian History.
